Chester is awash with beautiful locations ideal for photographs to make the most of with their cameras. 10. Abbey Square

Abbey Square, located opposite Chester Town Hall is recorded in the National Heritage List as a designated Grade 1 listed building. The entrance was built around 1300 AD. Take lots of pictures, but don’t walk on the communal green in the middle of the square. Find it on the map.

9. HQ Building

The former offices of CWAC Council, the HQ building sits on the edge of the Roodee Racecourse. It’s unique curved glass design is a recognisable landmark in a city packed with Roman and Tudor architecture. Photographers will love the contrast of old and new. Find it on the map.

8. Grosvenor Park

Capturing photographs along the main pathway in Grosvenor Park is always going to look amazing! It is another Grade II listed landmark in the city. Opened in 1867, it was gifted by the Grosvenor family to the city. It includes a park, miniature railway and a seasonal open-air theatre. Find it on the map.

7. Chester Market

The rejuvenated and ever-busy Chester Market is undergoing cosmetic and retail changes for the better. This is the best location in Chester for street photography. You can find independent traders, eateries and traditional market stalls to capture with ease. Find it on the map.

6. Old Dee Bridge

Connecting the village of Handbridge to the south of the city, the Old Dee Bridge, originally built by the Romans, is a Grade I listed landmark. Spanning the River Dee, it is a fantastic capture of long exposures of the rushing weir. Find it on the map.

5. Queens Park Bridge

The only suspension bridge in Chester is a more modern interpretation of the Old Dee Bridge. It is the easiest access route to the Meadows, which gives amazing views of luxury properties gracing the banks of the river. Find it on the map.

4. King Street

One of the finest examples of typical Chester architecture. You can find King Street hidden in between 2 pubs (The Red Lion & The Pied Bull) on Northgate Street. Wait for a quiet moment to get the best shot of that famous curve. Find it on the map.

Standing just outside the East wall of the city, the Roman Gardens are a fine example of Chester’s relationship with Italian culture. The stepped terraces and exotic flora are a great place to capture shots with strong lines and bold colours. Find it on the map.

The famous Eastgate Clock is the crown jewel of Chester’s iconography. Standing on an archway that marks the original Roman entrance to the city.
