Are You Misunderstanding My Art?

If I don’t get 2-3 messages about this per month then I’ll be surprised. ‘It needs brightening a little’ or ‘I had to brighten my screen to see this’ – either way, there is a misunderstanding in the art that confuses people.

My photography hasn’t always looked the way it does, and in 10 years I doubt it will look like it does now. What I mean by this is that art follows the experiences of life – so as we change as people, so do our creations.

I’m extremely confident and comfortable with what I produce. I’ve spent years trying out different approaches and discovering the best way to portray my ideas and where I’m at right now is great. This dark and moody style of editing isn’t ‘too dark’ or underexposed, it’s exactly what I intend, and none of it is an accident.

Pro photographers don’t regularly share their mistakes they only display the images they feel work. Ergo, what you see is what they want you to see.

It’s not a problem if you don’t like what you see, it’s just simply a case of it’s not relatable to you. So don’t try to re-correct their art. That’s like me saying ‘change your hair, I don’t like the colour’.

In summary, if you see something you don’t like, just keep on scrolling, and remember to tell someone when finding something you love. They’re the best kind of messages for an artist.
