Southport’s Botanic Gardens, located in Churchtown is a historic and picturesque park that has been a beloved community space since its opening in 1874.

Covering 12 acres, the gardens feature beautifully landscaped grounds with a variety of plant species, including ornamental flower beds, mature trees, and serene water features.

What to Expect

Your 1-2-1 workshop will be taken at your pace, with easy-to-follow explanations about how to use your camera. I’ll show you how to set the best exposure, how to keep your photo sharp, what all the major buttons and menu options do and most importantly – how to create unique, creative and striking images.

We’ll grab a coffee and chat about what you struggle with as a photographer, what you want to achieve with your photos and how I can help you to get there. Whether you’re waiting to feel more confident or motivated, booking a 1-2-1 photography workshop is the best investment an aspiring photographer like you could make.

What’s the Route?

We’ll meet at the south entrance and head on to capture a variety of scenes and subjects. The gardens feature vibrant flower beds with seasonal blooms, lush greenery, and well-maintained pathways that create picturesque landscapes.

There are serene lakes and ponds that reflect the surrounding flora, often visited by ducks and swans, offering opportunities for tranquil water shots.

The Victorian-style glasshouses house exotic plants, perfect for close-ups of unique botanical specimens. Additionally, the gardens host charming historical structures like statues and a rustic bandstand, providing a blend of natural and architectural beauty for photography.

Exact meeting point and route will be emailed to you upon booking.

What Should I Bring?

Pack whatever camera you have – I promise it’ll be enough. Storytelling in photography is about the content not about the equipment. Any DSLR camera, in the right hands, is a powerful tool.

Fully charge your battery and bring an extra one. Format your memory cards, ready to take lots of shots. If you’ve got a tripod bring it along, but it’s not essential. Feel free to bring along lens filters and other accessories.
