Photography Critiques

Photography portfolios are a collection of your current best images. But how do you tell which are your best images?

Book yourself and your photography a much-needed critique! Send me your shots (up to 20 of your favourites) and I’ll tell you!

Portfolio reviews are available for all areas of photography from beginners onward.

How Do Critiques Work?

With nearly 20 years of daily experience as a professional photography tutor, delivering feedback to aspiring creatives is something I love to do.

Choose from the options below and send me your fully-edited photos.

Pick out your best shots to get an idea of how strong you are, or shots you want advice over.

I will review your images and feedback in a clear, personal video with on-screen graphics to demonstrate areas of improvement.

You’ll also discover the strong and positive aspects of your shots too as a good photo critique needs a balance of praise and improvements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will My Critique Be Public?

Not at all. From time to time I contact my clients to ask if I can release snippets from critiques for advertising purposes, but it’s not mandatory.

How Will I Get My Critique Video?

Your critique video will be sent to you via WeTransfer.com. You’ll receive an email with a link to download the video to your device within 5 working days from booking.

It’s My First Time, Will You Be Harsh?

Critiques, a good critique, should be honest but balanced at the same time.

This is why I request to know a little more about you when booking your critique. Knowing what camera equipment you have, how long you’ve been shooting and what how you see photography in your life builds a better understanding of your abilities and limitations at this stage.

This makes my advice in the critique achievable and relevant to your experience. I always look for the good points in any photo as well as improvements. I’m here to help you, not to crush you!

What If I Don’t Agree With You?

I’m afraid that’s the hazard of a critique. Don’t book one, if you honestly don’t want to be assessed. Photography is subjective so my point of view may be different from yours. But offering a different opinion can open your eyes to things you may be blinkered to. I offer fair and balanced feedback and try to look at both sides of the fence.

While you may not agree with any critique, it’s important to value other view points for the sake of improving your photography.
